Created for a client’s mother, who wanted to celebrate their mother and the colourful vibrancy of his Nigerian heritage.
Created as a birthday present for the clients sister. This piece is composed of the receipts portrait, with symbols and images that depict the personal beliefs of the receipt, so she may always be reminded of her inner light in the darkest of times.
This piece was requested by a son for his mother. Mothers are often an under celebrated source of strength, support and identity, I was overjoyed creating this piece. The details in the background tell the client’s story of his journey to maturity.
They say we know more about the surface of the moon than the surface of the ocean. This piece was created as a gentle reminder that the ocean is full of ‘treasures’ that are worth saving. The use of symbolism and colour is intended to capture the mystery and wonder of marine life.
“All women dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous women, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.” – T.E Lawrence
You can give them more than You can afford to, and and some people will still look at you like a poor man.
Because you hold the door open, some people will mistake you for the door man.
Hold them in the highest regard, they’ll still do what want to you regardless…
give them your heart if you want, they’ll still find a way to call you heartless.
But thats just some people, and you shouldn’t lose sleep over what some people do, especially when you know, sometimes you can be “some people” too
I’m sorry if my intelligence caught you by surprise
I’m sorry if I shined a little too bright for your eyes.
I’m sorry if my confidence brought out all your insecurities
I’m sorry that pleasing you is no
Longer my priority
I’m sorry if my face and my outfit are intimidating.
I’m sorry I stood up for love when you spent your energy hating.
I’m sorry my enthusiasm was so very irritating.
I’m sorry that when I rose up to stand tall, you cowered and felt small.
I feel so sorry for you, but I’m not sorry at all.
But a hard floor to lie on
but a cold shoulder to cry on
But a glimmer of hope
But another way to cope
Nothing but another rung on a ladder made of rope
Strung along by nothing.
Nothing left to lose
Nothing left to prove
Everything is really nothing at all
